Automatic Background image
When importing a Photoshop file, either suggest the option to the user or even automatically set the lowest layer (if it is a full size image) as the page's background image, instead of simply the lower layer image.

Ranco, are your layers loading in order? When I bring mine in they pull in together as an animation but they are in a jumbled order so I have to manually reassign the image to the proper layer.

I don't use the psd for frame animation. It holds all the layers of my page, background and elements, and yes - it is loaded in the right order. I didn't try to use psd for animation, rather I use naming convention with png files (F001.png, F002.png, ...)
So your issue might be actually a bug to report.
Hope that helps,
Ranco

If you name your layer "background" it will set it as the page background.
