Are you looking at reducing the output size of Apps in IB 3.4, specially for Android?

Hi there!
Could you please give us some more detail about your question?
Here's an article with some tips about reducing the size of an app: How can I minimize the size of my app?

Hi Inna,

As an example, size of my app (Urdu Ustad) in Design view of IB is around 24 MB, once it gets published to Apple or Google Play it becomes 67 MB. I understand the IB engine has to be embedded along with the app. My apps target mostly emerging markets that use Android based devices with not so powerful processors. And, for Android anything over 50 MB has to be downloaded after you actually download the app.

So, I was wondering since you are rebuilding the IB engine in version 3.4, would there be any reduction in the App size as well? Would the new engine be smaller as compared to IB 3.3?

Thanks.

I am wondering if what Adeel says is still true (an app that is 24MB in size, once it gets published to Apple or Google Play, it becomes 67 MB) is still true with InteractBuilder 4

What overall app size should we be targeting as we are creating them in the Builder - is there a need to pre-allocate some additional size? Should it be (i) under 50MB - so that nothing additional has to be downloaded once it's in the Google Play Store, or (ii) could it be all the way up to the upper limit (Google has since pegged it at 4GB). How about the 'target size' for the Apple store? I know Ezra has mentioned this in the webinars but I can't find which one. Thanks!
